Before you misunderstand the point of this article, I’m not saying that fixed hot tubs are all that bad. Some models, especially the higher-end ones like the Jacuzzi, are actually a great investment. However, blow up hot tubs get a lot of bad reputation and I think they don’t deserve it. So, here’s why I think most people should opt for the inflatable option.
The Portability Makes Them More Convenient
Let’s face it, most of us don’t own gigantic mansions that have enough outdoor space to keep a permanent fixture like a hot tub in. Portable hot tubs are easily set up and just as easily deflated. If you don’t anticipate using the hot tub for an extended period of time (the summer, for instance) then it is much more convenient to simply deflate it and stow it away in a dry place. After all, why would you want to spend all that money to heat a tub of water that you aren’t using at all?
Some people even take these portable hot tubs with them on vacations, so they can own one unit and use it in a rental home with no issues at all. The deflated hot tubs are actually very compact and lightweight, making transportation very easy. You could even move it to another part of your yard if the need ever arises. For example, a friend of mine had one, and when she wanted to add a deck to her backyard, it was simple enough to just deflate the tub and she could move it to a better location.
Powerful Jets Give You An All-Body Massage
While inground spas have jets that focus on certain areas of your body such as your neck, back, etc – the jets in an inflatable hot tub are placed in a ring at the bottom. This means your entire body gets massaged all at once. For many people, that is the ideal, because who wants less massages? Additionally the contours of a fixed hot tub are not always perfectly aligned to everyone’s body and so the effect of the jets is lessened.
The Price Is More Affordable
It is a well-known fact that blow up hot tubs are relatively cheaper than their fixed counterparts. If you factor in the fact that you don’t need to hire a construction crew to install it, the price is drastically lower. This makes it a more realistic option for homeowners that don’t have the budget to handle such a big construction project.
Overall, for a much lower price, inflatable hot tubs function much like their fixed counterparts. They also add convenience, which makes them the better choice in my opinion. Just be sure to buy a high-quality model (I prefer name-brands) to make the most out of their durability. They can last you for year if you care for them properly, and I promise you that you will not miss the luxury that is expected from an inground hot tub. They’re really just as good at getting you relaxed.
