3 Reasons to Use a Prepaid Phone

Are you debating the merits of using a prepaid phone connection over a postpaid one? We help you decide.

At a time when mobile service providers are laying down the veritable red carpet for customers with new postpaid plans and offers, there are users that still prefer to stick with prepaid connections. Most people who buy their first mobile phones often start off with prepaid SIM cards before graduating to postpaid ones.

How do you decide if you should buy a postpaid connection or if you are better suited to prepaid phones? Let the following 3 factors help you decide:

#1 You use your cell phone intermittently.

Those who hardly ever use their cell phones through the day will not like to have a postpaid phone connection and lots of data. This is a feature that homemakers and senior citizens can exploit, wherein they don’t need to get an expensive plan loaded with too many features. A basic prepaid plan will more than suffice those who only use their phones for calls or texts, or to check an occasional social media message. Most users in this category do not have a need for too much data, or even a web-enabled SIM!

#2 You don’t like bill shocks.

The biggest advantage of having a prepaid connection is that you know exactly what you are paying, and for how long your pack is valid. In case your account is low on balance, you get an alert about the same and you can replenish the balance immediately by doing the online recharging of the connection. Either way, you are always in the loop about how much money you are spending on your prepaid connection. If you don’t like unexpected shocks in the form of a huge bill (that you might get with overuse of a postpaid connection) then you should certainly use a prepaid SIM card. The postpaid connection presents a bill after the billing cycle is complete, and only at that point you can know how much you owe the service provider.

#3 You are likely to use data from Wi-Fi instead of your phone.

A big reason why most people opt for postpaid phones instead of prepaid connections is that the former often has more amounts of data to offer. This is useful for those who need high amounts of monthly data (starting with 40 GB on leading postpaid plans) for streaming movies and music, playing back work presentations, using social media endlessly, and so on. If you don’t do any of these, and are content with using your phone as a mere calling and texting device, then a basic prepaid connection is more suitable for you. In many cases, you are likely to switch off phone data and instead use a home or office Wi-Fi for your digital needs. You can take a new prepaid plan for Rs 248 or Rs 495 with a leading service provider, with daily 1.4 GB data and also access to premium TV and film streaming apps.
